Wine at Oblò
Rather than produce an extensive wine list, we have instead chosen to carefully select a number of wines which we feel meet our customers’ needs and which best compliment our menus and style.
Our wine list is compiled following discussions with staff, consultation with customers and in collaboration with our wine merchants, Paul Burton Wholesale Drinks & Lockett Brothers of North Berwick (http://www.lockettbros.co.uk/). We have an excellent relationship with both our wine suppliers, who always provide us with samples and offers us advice and recommendations.
Both of our wine suppliers have also supported our wine tasting nights for customers, which have proved fantastic opportunities to ‘test’ the popularity of wines and gain customer feedback in making our final selection when reviewing our list.
To ensure our staff feel confident in offering wine to customers, or advising them according to their taste, we regularly hold wine tastings and have also undertaken bespoke wine training and food and wine matching courses. Some of our staff have also successfully gained their WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Intermediate Certificate in Wine & Spirits.
