Eyemouth Lifeboat Fundraising Group SOS Quiz Night 2012

An impressive 18 teams turned out for our Eyemouth Lifeboat Station SOS (marathon!) Fundraising Quiz on Friday 3rd February. It was great fun with a lot of laughs and delicious pizzas at half time! About £500 was raised between the team entries, raffle & prize auction – a really fantastic amount. ’Strictly Dumb Chancing’ took first place, after the tie-break question, winning themselves a round of Golf, courtesy of the Eyemouth Club. Huge thanks go out to everyone involved in the event – the RNLI fundraising committee & helpers, quizmaster Bob, staff at Oblò and of course to all of you for coming along to support our fundraising night and this great cause.

Burn’s Day Celebrations 2012

A great day was had by all who came along to our Burn’s Day Celebrations on Sunday 29th January. We received great feedback about our buffet lunch of Scottish dishes including Mutton Broth and Haggis, Neeps & Tatties and there was a great atmosphere in the bar created by everyone there along with Ewan Galloway & his band playing great Scottish music all afternoon. Looking forward to next year already!

Wine Tasting Evening January 2012

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening with Brian Elliott, wine columnist for the Scotland on Sunday, and in partnership with Lockett Bros Wine Merchants of North Berwick. Brian provided us with just the right amount of information about the wines, making the night interesting and relaxed. The favourite red was the Spanish Rioja and the favourite white was the Italian Fiano Greco, with just about everyone loving the Italian Prosecco – just divine! Thanks to everyone who came along and look out for our next Rose Wine Tasting Night…

Chef de Partie – Lee Cessford

I started working in Oblò in 2008 when I was 16 years old and other than a brief gap, have been a member of the kitchen team ever since. I initially started as a Trainee Pizza Chef and worked my way up to Chef de Partie, my current role, through which I am responsible for the running of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.

I like it best when we are busy and rushing about and when I get good feedback from customers. I also enjoy taking part in the pizza making events we have been involved in with Giacopazzi’s.

In 2011 I took part in a local Junior Master Chef Competition and made it in to the final 3. I had to create, prepare and cook my own 3 course menu, which was then sampled by customers and judged by a panel. I received some fantastic comments about my dishes and featured in local newspapers.

I would eventually like to work in a restaurant with Michelin Stars, or maybe even earn my own one day!
