Scottish Borders Junior Chef Challenge 2011
Our Chef de Partie, Lee Cessford, was one of the 8 young chefs from 6 establishments in the Borders to take part in the Scottish Borders Junior Chef Challenge in September this year. Each chef had to create and cook their own menu of starter, main course and dessert, which was then judged by customers buying their dishes as well as a panel of 3 judges tasting every dish. The public vote counted for 25% of the judges’ decision, with 3 chefs shortlisted to go through to the final cook-off. The judges commented that it was a close run race and although Lee didn’t make it to the final 3, he produced a fantastic menu which received excellent feedback from both customers and the judges, with his dessert proving to be his ‘pièce de résistance’! Well done to Lee for entering this competition and for doing Oblò proud and thank you also to all our customers who supported Lee by sampling his dishes. Congratulations to Jonathan Streets from The County Hotel, Selkirk who went on to win the competition.
